The Moisie River "February 11, 2003 - The government of Quebec offically protect the Moisie River located in the Côte-Nord region of the province as the first aquatic reserve in Quebec. This means that, from now on, any industrial activities (logging, mining, energy production) will be prohibited in this conservation corridor, spanning close to 4000 square kilometers, while maintaining existing rights and privileges (hunting, fishing, leases and native activities)."
The Moisie River is one of the longest and most beautiful rivers in eastern Canada and
one of the finest salmon rivers in the world. It meanders through deep scenic
gorges for over 400 kilometers in the Province of Quebec.
The Moisie River is well-known for the impressive size of its Atlantic Salmon and was
one of the favorite areas of the legendary fly fisherman and author, the late Lee Wulff.
